Scrapping for my niece!

While I was recently in Port Macquarie my sister and niece wanted to scrap! Yah!! My niece had a photo she wanted to do and knew she wanted lots of flowers but no layout in mind and no time.... Hello... I am here with no photos of my own and love flowers!!! 'I would love to do it for you' I said. 'Cool' I think was her response!!

She picked some gorgeous bright orange Prima flowers and I picked out some Prima paper - yummo, along with ribbons and pearls and lots of other gorgeous stuff. I had lots of fun and this is the end result.

Thankfully she was extremely pleased with the end result of my fun!!
Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Little Miss Mae (3) and I went to the beach this morning, it was a perfect start to the day! We then came home to visit with my brother and his kids for the rest of the day. So a perfect start to the weekend... I wonder what we will do tomorrow!!

October Team Swap Card

Well, finally another chance to create something with some new rubber... I have lacked the mojo after holidays, but thanks to our team swap and some inspiration from my good friend Tiffany, I have come up with these...

I love this colour combination of Crumb Cake (formally known as Kraft), Very Vanilla and the new in-colour Blushing Bride. Stamp sets used are Notably Ornate, Curly Cute and a Hostess set called Punch Potpourri. Other things used are 1 1/4" striped ribbon - Pretty in Pink, Basic Pearls, Silver embossing powder, dimensionals, mini glue dots and sticky strip.

Can't wait to see what the other girls have come up with this month.

Have a great weekend xx

SAM Challenge #15

After being on holidays camping in the rain for eight out of nine days.... (the kids still had a great time - luckily!), some scrapbooking was just what I needed! The Stamp-a-Memory Challenge this week is to 'Scraplift' a page found in all the great layouts from their site. (this took quiet a while to find as I was having to much fun looking and remembering all those great layouts!)

This is the layout I chose - its by a guest designer, Janice Klass...

and this is my version of her layout...

These photos were taken at a picnic for my mums birthday. Dad brought along his whip and was trying very patiently to teach us all how to 'Crack that whip'. There was lots of laughs and great memories made that day!

SAM Challenge #14

Well... I haven't participated in a challenge for a while and liked the idea of doing some scrap booking! The wonderful girls at Stamp-a-memory have put out this great sketch challenge, so I thought I would have to have a go!
This is the sketch

And, this is my entry! Thanks to my daughter and her great little soccer team - I had a couple of photos that definately needed scraping.
I have used the gorgeous new Newspaper Print DSP from SU and also the beautiful 1&1/4" stripped grosgrain ribbon in black and vanilla, the little leaves are from the two step bird punch and the Not Quite Navy flower is made using the scalloped circle punch.

This is a close up of the journaling.

Have a great week xx

Extreme Elements!

Hi all! I finally had time to have a play with some new rubber this morning! Gotta love new stuff... when I first saw this set in the new IB&C, I knew it would be great for boy/male cards and pages. Had to have it!
Below is a male birthday card - hope you like it.

Here is an 8x8" layout for my calendar next year! So nice to be able to do more of my son with a really nice set.

The colours I have used are Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Not Quite Navy. The stamp set is called Extreme Elements on page 52 of the IB&C.

Open Day Cancelation...

Due to both my very talented older children (slightly biased!) getting into the semi-finals with their soccer, I have had to cancel my Open Day until further notice... If they get through next weekend then there could still be another two weekends of soccer finals and grand final to go to. I love watching them play and they would be very disappointed if I wasn't there for these very special games. I hope you can all understand this.
I will post when I have another date for this special introduction day to the new Idea Book & Catalogue will be.

New Cards!

I have been having some fun with some new techniques and new stamps and thought I should share some!!
These first two cards are from a Stampin' Up! team training day which was lots of fun. Especially being on the other side of the table to the teacher!
This card is Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand and Whisper White card stock. We stamped the flowers onto velum and embossed them - I love that!

This card is using the technique called 'Emerging Colour'. We stamped lots of little stamps in pinks and purples onto white card stock, then clear embossed the big Medallion stamp over the top. Then we used the Brayer (a big rubber roller) to roll the purple colour over the top. Using paper towel to wipe off the excess from the embossed area - which leaves the colours under-neath 'emerging' through!

The next one is a very simple card using the 'small heart' punch with five different coloured card stock and a simple birthday greeting. Very simple but very effective! And if you need a card in a rush - this one is perfect!

I have never used the 'Spritzer' tool before and borrowed it from a friend to play with.... This tool allows you to spray colour from a marker pen over your project to 'age' it. If you look closely you can see a fine mist of chocolate chip ink sprayed over the card - I like it! (and yes - its a mens card - shock horror - very much out of my comfort zone!!!)

Can you believe it - another mens card LOL!! Again using the Spritzer tool!

These next three cards would have to be my favourites!! And so easy! All you do is ink up your stamp with the Versa mark ink pad, stamp onto your card stock and then using the Sponge Daubers, dab chalk over the stamped image and it sticks to the embossing ink! No heating required! Then add a diamonte and some ribbon and quick as a flash - another very simple card!

This one is a little more time consuming as I cut the design and layered it onto a backing piece and ruffled some ribbon - just to dress it up a little! Oh and added some Dazzling Diamonds to the purple chalked area too!

Last but not least... this is the same technique but first I have used the Big Shot machine to dry emboss a pattern onto some white card stock. Then rubbed the Versa mark ink over the raised pattern and added the coloured chalk! Easy hey!

Told you I have been busy! I hope you have enjoyed this post and maybe learnt something new you would like to try yourself. xx

Last Calendar Page for classes

Just thought I would share my last creation for our Calendar classes. In these classes we are scrap booking two 8x8" layouts per month so that our calendars are ready to hang by the time the new year starts! We have been having so much fun in these classes, the girls are enjoying scrap booking which has always been my passion. Its great to be able to share that with these ladies.
Anyhoo... back to the picture!

This is my gorgeous daughter Molly. I love this photo of her, she looks so grown up. There are lots of techniques and elements on this page (sorry the photography is poor). We have embossing, distressing (inking edges, scruffing edges and melting ribbons) I have used the Bigshot, which the ladies are loving (less cutting out for them!).
Thanks for popping by and I hope you are inspired to create! xx

Updated Class Scedule

Hi ladies! Sorry for the confusion... I had classes scheduled during the Sept/October school holidays!! Oops... all has been fixed. Please see the right hand column for updated class dates.

Christmas Stamp-a-stack cards

Hi all! I would like to share a couple of cards that we will be making in our upcoming Christmas Stamp-a-stack! Two very different cards for you.
This first one is more traditional - picture wise anyway!

This one is more of a fun one!

I hope you like them! If you are interested in coming along and making some of these cards, contact me ASAP to book your seat. We make three each of two different designs. Class details are listed down the right hand side of my blog.

Christmas in July!

With all the cold days and in door entertainment and all the talk of 'Christmas in July' at the moment, I thought I would make some chrissy cards to put in my stash! As you can see below, I have gone a little Baja Breeze mad! (love that colour!) and as always had to have one with Kraft!!
All three cards are very clean and simple in design - but I am very happy with the results.
This first one, I have used the 'reverse masking' technique and sponged the rectangle and stamped the background trees with Baja Breeze ink. Then the top tree is stamped with Baja Breeze and Versa mark ink then sprinkle with a mix of clear embossing powder and dazzling diamonds! The sentiment is from the 'Many Merry Messages' set.

These next two are using the gorgeous 'Illuminations' set, embossed with white powder. I restamped in Baja Breeze/Real Red and embossed with clear powder and then cut out the 'J' and raised it with dimensionals! I added white taffeta ribbon to the kraft card and a small flower and rhinestone brad to the white card.

(if you click on the images, you can see more detail!)
I hope you are inspired to get some of your chrissy cards started xx

Quilted Top Note Card

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share another card I have recently made. Its affectionately called the 'Quilted Top Note' because of the look it achieves as you can see in the photo below.

To get this look, all you do is punch squares of the DSP and stick them to some card stock and then run it through the Big shot using the Top Note Die! Simple as!!
I have used the lovely Cottage Wall DSP from the Autumn/Winter Mini along with Orchid Opulence card stock. The ribbon is also from the Autumn/Winter Mini - Rich Razzleberry Polka-Dot Grosgrain. The sentiment is from the Hostess set, Best Yet. Hope you like it!

Friday 25 June 2010

Swap Cards

Hi everyone. I wanted to share a couple of pics of a card I have made for my 'Team Swap' for July. Yes, I am a little ahead of myself, but - there's nothing like being organised is there!
Being part of an SU team has many benefits. We support and encourage each other when that elusive 'mojo' goes astray! and we share ideas and inspiration too. One thing our team is doing at the moment is a card swap each month. We all make a card for each person who signs up for the month and they get distributed back to each member so that we all get one from each of the other members... does that make sense? By doing this we get to see ideas and techniques that we might not have thought of ourselves and then share with our customers!
Anyhoo, this is my card for July!

Seven ladies have signed up so far for July (including myself) so, seven of the same card!
I have used the Bigshot machine, running the Scallop Circle through to make the base of the card. Then my Circle cutter to cut a piece of Pink Pirouette DSP. I have used the Eyelet Border Punch on Chocolate Chip card stock. The sentiment is from the Hostess gift set called Best Yet and the Butterfly and the pale pink leaves behind the sentiment are from the Great Friend set. Then to finish it off, I have used the lovely Riding Hood Red striped ribbon and some Hemp Twine.

Hope you like it xxx

Special card for Special Occasions!

I recently borrowed some sizzix embossing dies from my bestie Kim to have a play with... I needed to make a Wedding card for my nephew and a Birthday card for my mum. I had seen a technique that I wanted to have a go at and this is what I have come up with!
This first one is for my mum's Birthday

This one is the Wedding card

and these two were just for fun!

I have used Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla and Kraft cardstock and ink. Along with the gorgeous Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, the eyelet border punch and the En Francais background stamp.
To get this effect with the embossing die, all you have to do is ink directly onto the die itself! Then very carefully put your cardstock into the folder and then through the Bigshot. Each side of the die you ink will give a different image when embossed. I think both came out beautifully! (then make sure you wash and dry the die when your done! I just ran it under warm water)

Give it a go and enjoy the results yourself. xx

ESAD Scrapbooking Challenge

Over the last weekend ESAD has been running a myriad of challenges for those of us that couldn't make it to the Stampin' Up! Convention in Sydney.
On Sunday, the scrapbooking challenge was to follow a layout. I did this using the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrapin' Kit (found on page 138 of the IB&C). This was all made possible by my bestie 'Kim' who kindly donated alot of DSP that she wasn't using...

I have scraped this photo of Maisy before, and so have all my sisters! I just love it - its such a natural candid photo captured by my sister Robyn at mum and dads farm. She was having a ball splashing with her cousin Lleyton and Nanny! I am very happy with this one! Too cute Maisy baby xxx

TCR #5/SAM Callenge #9

Time for a challenge.... or two as this one may be! The lovely girls at Stampamemory have set a challenge to use a photo that you have altered in some way, (showing the original photo as well). The photo I have used is actually a favourite recent photo of my daughter Molly. I didn't need to alter it for any other reason than wanting to 'shabby' it up! So, I have printed it onto canvas and changed it to black and white.

The other half of this challenge was set by a wonderful site called The Color Room. You have to check out the talent that oozes from every person on this site!! It is awe-inspiring!! Below is the colour challenge and also the sketch they have set for this week.

Well, here is my entry, I hope you like it.

The next photo is a close up of the gorgeous flowers...

This photo is to try and show you the photo on canvas paper...

Card Stock: Very Vanilla
DSP: Bella Bleu (various scraps from scrap bag)
Ink: River Rock
Stamp Set: Baroque Motifs
Accessories: Kaiser Rhinestone Letters, Flowers and lace from Spotlight!

S.A.M. Creative Challenge # 8

Hi again every one. I have entered in a challenge set up by the girls at Stampamemory. The challenge for this fortnight is to create a layout using a photo of yourself and list five things that you like about yourself. Scraping myself is not something I normally do, but thought it would be nice to have some memories for my kids of me and what I was like! So.... here it is!

I have used Bella Rose DSP along with Kiwi Kiss Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, the Scalloped Circle Punch and two clear Rhinestone Brads all from Stampin' Up! I have also used my Bigshot for the very first time! Cutting the topnote shape for the journaling. The chipboard letters, flowers and bling are from my stash.

This photo shows a close up of some of the embellishments. I actually painted the chipboard letters with crackle paint and then went over the top with crystal effects to make it shinny. I punched Riding Hood Red card stock with the scalloped circle punch and the snipped it to make the petal shapes for the bottom layer of the flowers. I used Close to Cocoa ink to age the edges of the DSP.

The last photo shows the journaling. Just incase you can't read it.....

About ME @ 40....

After recently becoming a single mum I have learned a few things about myself. I have discovered that I am a lot stronger than I ever thought I was. I am capable of coping with three gorgeous kids on my own. I am happy with my own company (something I never thought I would be!) I can manage a budget! I love to mow the lawn. I have found my love of craft all over again. I have conquered my fears of different things.... I have always wanted to learn to ride a motor bike! So, I now have my licence and love it!

All in all - I am happy being me!

Well there you have it - a page on ME! Hope you like it...

Who knew....

Hi all... Sorry its been a while. Life is hectic sometimes isn't it.
I have been getting together with my good friend Kim lately at least once a week to try and inspire us both to get back into the swing of things and I must admit its working. Slowly but surely!
I find Kim very inspirational. She has a great style when it comes to scrapbooking and she is very creative - so thanks Kim for all you help.
This photo was taken by my almost 12yr old son Mitchell. We went away camping for a week at Easter time and had a fabulous time.

In the photo below, I have tried to get a little closer to some of the embellishments. (my photography skills are very bad - sorry) The doillie (not sure if thats the correct way to spell that...) in the background and the bird cage and also the bird at the top of the photo are cut using Kim's silhouette machine (gotta love that thing!) I have painted the bird cage using crackle paint which is fantastic for adding dimension and depth to things. The bird I have inked a little to try to age it a bit! There is a page out of an old reading book in there as well which I have used my Spiral punch on and there is machine stitching around the border... what else... oh yer that gorgeous clock face is a stamp from a previous mini catalogue. The set was called Sense of Time. There is also lace, Pearls, flowers and leaves! Lots of layers - which I am loving more and more.

Below is a close up of the journaling.

I had a lot of fun creating this page with lots of help from Kim... it celebrates our first time away on our own... and what a fantastic time we had. Love you three more than you will ever know xxx

S.A.M Creative Challenge #4/ 8x8" Layout

This fortnights challenge over at Stamp a Memory is to create a page using only Black and White, with one extra colour added. You can use as many shades of that extra colour as you like but only that one. There have been some awesome entries and example pages by the design team so pop over and check them out.

This photo I have chosen is a favourite photo memory of two out of seven girlfriends that I play tennis with. We call ourselves the 'TWB' girls. That is Tennis with Benefits!. We go away once a year for a weekend to relax and have some girlie fun. This photo was taken at the Formal Night on the Pacific Dawn! Thats right, we went on a Cruise last year and had a fabulous couple of days away. 'Simply said' they are great 'Friends'.

The Stamped journaling up the left hand side reads, a friend is someone who makes it easy. Below is a close up of embellishments used.

Products used are
Card stock: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White and Basic Black
DSP: Riding Hood Red Patterns Designer Series
Inks: Basic Black and Riding Hood Red
Stamps: Simply Said and Jumbo Outline
Others: Stampin Dimensionals, Silver Hodgepodge and Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon

This layout is for my 8x8" calendar that I Scrap every year. Its really nice each month to see a favourite memory from the year before and the kids get a real kick out of seeing themselves on the months where they feature! (its a real talking point with visitors too!)

Thanks again for stopping by, until next time, have a great week xx

More 1/2 Page Wonders!

Time for some more creations! After visiting with Bettina (fellow SU Demonstrator and friend) last night, I borrowed a couple of stamp sets to play with... thanks lovey!
I borrowed three sets that have always been on my wish list (really, really want them now that I have had a chance to play with them!) Fifth Avenue Floral, Simply Said and Circle Circus. They are all great sets to use with the 1/2 page wonder cards that we are doing in our class this Friday. If you haven't booked your seat, now would be a good time... come and have some fun and laughs with the girls.

In the following photos you will see how simple these cards are to make. Just stamp up a 1/2 sheet of A4 card stock and punch shapes and edges or cut strips and stick them on with a bit of ribbon and a sentiment and there you have it! Each 1/2 page of background stamping will get you three or four cards.

This first lot are my favourite - Fifth Avenue Floral.

I have used Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze card stock and ink.

Next is Circle Circus (tried to make some for the blokes in our lives).

This one is Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango card stock and ink.

Next is the lovely Simply said set.

I used Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery and Very Vanilla card stock and ink.

And last but not least my own Enjoy Every Moment set.

This one is Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette card stock and ink.

Well that was lots of fun, I hope you have enjoyed this post! Thanks for stopping by xx
